Holiday thanks from the Alzheimer’s Association

As we take stock at the end of the year, we have much to celebrate and much for which to be thankful. The Alzheimer’s Association – both staff and volunteers – made a difference in many lives. Many people, most of whom we will never meet, found their journey a little easier, their anxieties lessened, their path a little clearer because of our work together. Young scientists across the country are at work pursuing our mutual passion because we were there to encourage their work in the most practical of means.

Our recent victory in seeing the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) pass into law is the biggest concrete win for our cause in over a decade. It is a strategic success that will give us a lever to move towards the world without Alzheimer’s we seek for future generation.

Our Memory Walk events (hereafter Walk to End Alzheimer’s)  were a success and for the forth year in a row, we held a million dollar Walk in San Francisco. In this economy, they really were a triumph of smart, hard work by so many.

I’m thankful for all the good work, day after day, week after week that our volunteers, staff and other supporters put into this cause. It has been another great year, but we still have much to do – so we’ll be back at it, working even harder and smarter in 2011. Happy holidays and a happy new year to all!
